Aikido is a circular, non-aggressive art of self-defense that blends with the opponent's attack, and redirects it into a lock, pin, or throw. The power of Aikido can end an attack suddenly with severity or dissipate it gently as the need arises. The circular and flowing techniques are extremely effective and can be learned by anyone regardless of age, gender, or size. Members learn to defend themselves while exhibiting a relaxed body, as well as a calm focused mind. This state of relaxed mental and physical awareness is then carried out to every day work, school, and home life activities. Aikido has no competitions; it is based on mutual respect, co-operation and friendship. Its philosophy, ideals, and ethics are inseparable from actual Aikido training.
